The Loft Spiral stairs we offer are supplied in a variety of different materials and styles. There are several kit models which are available off the shelf quickly and for a favourable price. This range have set diameters and generally come with 13 risers. If you needed to go higher than the standard kit you would simply need to purchase more steps. As the kit models are prepacked designs they are limited in the choice of materials and finishes.
The custom-made range offer complete personalisation in terms of diameter, height, and materials. They are made to measure for the height and the specification required. Any hardwood, any colour, a choice of handrails and balustrade infill for example enable clients to build their own model.
To meet building regulations, loft spiral stairs are classed as a secondary spiral stair and therefore require a 600mm clear tread width. This means you would need a 1500mm diameter model to achieve this. You would also need to ensure the gaps between the spindles and the treads are less than 100mm and this is something we can address.

Beech Spiral Staircase Bristol
This Spiral Staircase was supplied to a customer in Bristol carrying out a loft conversion. It was to provide access to a single bedroom and our client wanted a sculptural solution to provide access. A spiral staircase was the obvious solution, providing the visual impact desired and saving space.
Given the height of the floor and the fact it didn’t have any surrounding walls near enough to provide a fixing point, a bespoke model was specified with a continuous steel centre column. The beech treads were supported by steel tread arms cantilevering from the centre column. Our client of this ‘Spiral Staircase Bristol’ project was on a tight budget so we supplied the steelwork primed for on site painting. Not only did this say the powder coating cost but avoided any possible damage to the paintwork during assembly. The treads were in beech and were painted black by the customer to blend in with the colour of the steel.
